"It is my mission to provide creative therapeutic services, in a nurturing and peaceful setting, in order to help people achieve their goals & live a healthier life."

Sarah M. Long, MSW, LICSW

Therapist / Owner

I grew up on a farm in northern West Virginia, where I was constantly drawing, writing or reading while sitting in a hay field, or by a creek, or in a forest, under or in a tree.

Then, I was going to art school (according to high-school me), until I went on a home-visit with a social worker and my life changed.

I felt this overwhelming urge to act,

to help, to do.

So I got an undergraduate degree in Forensic Psychology from Fairmont State University, and then got a master's degree in Clinical Social Work from West Virginia University. I specialized in trauma informed care and treatment, with a focus on kids, adolescents & adults with anxiety.

Now that I've started Creative Connections Psychotherapy, I get to integrate my love of art, nature & animals with my training as a therapist & my passion for helping people..

Beacon Barn Therapeutic Farm

1120 Sandy Creek Rd. Thornton, WV 26440

My office is located at Beacon Barn Therapeutic Farm in Taylor county West Virginia. Contact me for directions, as GPS usually doesn't work to get you there. I share a neat space in the loft of a barn with Sheena Nicholson of Fresh Perspective Psychotherapy, & Molly McCartney of Beacon Barn. The animals that live on the farm assist in the therapeutic process, and most have their own stories of survival. You'll meet a sweet & shy horse named Rayna, a sassy little pig called Sweet Pea, a mini horse with a big personality that goes by Spike, and many others, including a rescued pig wittily referred to as Kevin Bacon.

Nice to meet y
